Explore the former home of famed silent movie star William S. Hart. Here's the information you need to plan your day.

Admission

We’re open 11 am to 4 pm Wednesday through Sunday, except for:

  • New Year's Day (January 1)
  • Independence Day (July 4)
  • Thanksgiving Day (fourth Thursday of November)
  • Christmas Day (December 25)

Visiting the Mansion

Entrance to the Hart Museum mansion is by guided tour only. Free tours are offered hourly, with the last tour embarking at 3p m. Read more about our guided tours.

From the parking lot at the bottom of the hill, guests will walk 1/4 of a mile up the Nature Trail to the museum. Additionally, the second floor of the museum is accessed via a flight of 17 stairs.

Visiting the Ranch House

The Hart Museum ranch house, located next to the picnic area in William S. Hart Park, maintains the same hours as the Hart Museum mansion. Visitors are welcome to explore this historic ranch home and enjoy the exhibits at their own pace.

Visitors are welcome to enjoy all the amenities in William S. Hart Park year round. Guests are welcome to enjoy the park on days and times the museum is not open.

  • Fall / Winter / Spring Park Hours
    Hours start on the Sunday Daylight Savings Time ends (in the Fall) and run until the Sunday Daylight Savings Time begins (in the Spring)
    7 am – 5 pm, seven days a week
  • Summer Park Hours
    Hours start the Sunday Daylight Savings Time begins (in the Spring) and run until the Sunday Daylight Saving Time ends (in the Fall)
    7 am – 7:30 pm, seven days a week

Visitor Guidelines

The following items are not permitted in the museum:

  • Food and beverages
  • Strollers or baby-carrier backpacks (unless convertible to the front)
  • Pets. Service animals are always permitted entry.

Photography and Mobile Devices

Still photography is permitted, for non-commercial use only. Share your photos online using #hartmuseum!

Flash photography is not allowed. No tripods, monopods or selfie sticks are permitted. Please silence all mobile devices prior beginning of your tour.

Preservation

The William S. Hart Museum strives to preserve Bill Hart’s legacy and his amazing collection of artwork and artifacts—you can help with that preservation! You will find that not everything in the collection is in a case or behind a gate. In order to preserve the historic home, please do not touch of the objects that you see (including the walls).

Smoke-free Environment

Smoking is prohibited on our premises (including outdoor areas). Thank you for helping us maintain a healthy environment for everyone to enjoy!

Parking

Free parking is available at the parking lot located inside the entrance to Hart Park, at the bottom of the hill. Guests will need to walk 1/4 of a mile up the Nature Trail (which starts between the Ranch House and the Gift Store) to the museum, which is located at the top of a steep hill.

Ridesharing

If using a rideshare service, we suggest having the driver travel up the hill for drop off at the museum.
